He is fascinated by the incongruities of what we consider to be ‘normal’ and how we equate this idea of normality with morality. What happens when the idea of ‘normal’ becomes conflated with an ‘ideal’ that is unrepresentative of the common experience? How are the ideas of morality, wealth and physical health and fitness interrelated? Making art allows him to make space for himself, helping to defy feelings of invisibility through mark making. He completed his Masters in Fine Art in 2009, at the time exploring the intersections of gender, race, the cinematic gaze and violence. He works in a range of media from animation and oil painting, to performative installation, and enjoys exploring new media. He also works in creative activist education in addition to creating art.
